The wealth of the  Jacquetta Hawkes Archive is now far more accessible than ever before.  The new edition of the Handlist was created for this centenary year and replaces the original basic list created quickly so we could begin to make the archive available.  The new list includes:

  • Details of hundreds of photographs, negatives and slides, spanning Jacquetta’s life, illustrating her fashion sense, personal style and visual sense, as well as her extensive travels worldwide and her family and friends.
  • Many of the letters are now described and summarised, so that enquirers interested in, for example, Henry Moore or Marghanita Laski, can see exactly what we have from them.  Jacquetta and Priestley knew many archaeologists, artists, writers, actors and campaigners, and their busy social life and sharing of ideas is very apparent.

The Handlist can be downloaded as a PDF from the Hawkes Archive web page.  If you need a different format, please contact Special Collections.
